Gerald Martin General Contractor is a leader in LEED and Sustainable/Environmental Construction in the State of New Mexico. The Company employs in-house LEED accredited personnel who are fully trained in all aspects of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System and its use as a design guideline and certification tool. Our expertise includes knowledge of all LEED requirements, the points rating system, and the process for achieving each level (Certification, Silver, Gold and Platinum), as well as Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation and Design Process. Our personnel are also experienced with developing and managing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) on project sites subject to NPDES and the National Clean Water Act.

Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Program

All of GMGC's project managers and superintendents have undergone extensive training in Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and implement the appropriate best management practices on projects that are subject to NPDES requirements. Field supervisors are also required to complete a review course prior to assignment to any project requiring coverage under the Construction General Permit. All Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) are drafted in-house utilizing the latest information available from the EPA and the New Mexico Environment Department concerning changes in requirements or inspection procedures. Routine audits and field training sessions are conducted by GMGC on each project subject to this coverage and an incentive program is in place to motivate and reward compliance efforts.

To ensure GMGC's success with the SWPPP Program, Gerald Martin General Contractor has perhaps the most qualified SWPPP person in the state of New Mexico on staff. R. Lar Thomas, SWPPP Manager, has been involved in Clean Water Act issues for over eight years. Mr. Thomas serves on numerous industry and government sponsored committees and taskforces and communicates on a regular basis with the EPA liaison to the National Association of General Contractors (AGC).
